Air oil cooler- Its operation and advantages
An air oil cooler, as the name implies, is a form of heat exchanger that uses oil for cooling and we are the best Air oil cooler manufacturers in India. It is a small radiator mounted in front of engines, usually in vehicles with a fan. Air-oil coolers may be activated by the engine as it is running or, in some cases, at regular intervals while the engine is running to regulate temperature. Depending on the design structure, air-oil heat exchangers are commonly bar&fin coolers or plate&fin coolers, in which heat is continuously transferred from heated oil to air without adding energy to the operation.
The fundamental idea behind an air oil cooler is that heating oil flows on one side of a thin corrugated metal
plate and cooler air flows on the other. The device allows for a simple
transfer of heat from the oil to the air.
Working
It uses a large number of rectangular
tubes made by brazing aluminum alloy plates/sidebars&internal bars
together. The oil to be cooled reaches from an inlet header and is then
distributed through the rectangular tubing. Inside these rectangular tubes are
internal fins. The heat from the oil is transferred to these fins. The heat is
then transmitted to the plates from the internal fins. External fins are
located between each pair of plates, and heat is transferred from the plates to
the external fins by conducting. A cold ambient air draft is forced into
external fins, removing heat.
Its Advantages
· Lightweight construction
· Needs less ground space making them ideal for
use in small space
·
Simple design&manufacturing
·
Low operating cost
·
Easy maintenance
· They also eliminate corrosion by removing water runoff. Also, the heat
generated by the air-cooled system can be put to other uses.
